There Isn’t Enough Time! (Or Is There?)

Ever feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day? Like no matter how hard you try, your to-do list just keeps growing? Let’s kick this off with prioritization.

If everything is a priority, then nothing is a priority. When schedules are overloaded, something has to go. Sometimes it’s obvious what to cut, but other times, it takes a deeper look at what actually aligns with your values. If you're struggling to decide, ask yourself: Which commitments truly add value to my life? The things that don’t? Those might need to go.

Once priorities are clear, the next step is keeping track of them in a way that works for you. Some people thrive with digital tools like Apple Calendar or Google Calendar, especially since they can sync with school or work schedules. Others prefer the satisfaction of writing things down in a physical planner. Either way, color coding can be a game-changer—it cuts down on mental effort when scanning your schedule.

Time buffers are another lifesaver. Cramming tasks back to back is a recipe for stress, especially if unexpected delays pop up. Leaving some breathing room between commitments helps prevent that last-minute scramble (and the guilt of running late).

For those who struggle to remember important tasks, strategic alerts can help. A calendar reminder the day before a big event and another a couple of hours beforehand? Smart move. Setting alarms for things like moving your car for street cleaning? Absolutely necessary because nothing ruins a day faster than a parking ticket.

One of the most powerful time management strategies is scheduling a weekly review. Taking just 10–15 minutes to plan the week ahead can make a huge difference in staying organized and reducing stress. It creates structure, which leads to a sense of control.

Last but definitely not least: set boundaries. Saying yes to everything leads to burnout, and your time is one of your most valuable assets. Being intentional with commitments doesn’t mean turning down great opportunities. It just means protecting your energy for the ones that truly matter.

Let’s take back control of our time, focus on what actually matters, and make this next month one where we truly move forward.
